All about us
Welcome to our Website! Here you will find loads of info about the pub.
So firstly I will tell you a bit about the pub and our aims...
Our pub is a traditional ale house with excellent award winning ales! Our aims are to keep the standard of real ale at the highest possible. We have 11 hand pumps, 6 real ciders and 6 key keg beers. We have lots to choose from whatever your drinking tastes are.
We have won many CAMRA awards, including Kent Pub of the Year and Kent Cider Pub of the Year (both in the same year!) We are immensely proud of all that we have achieved. We intend to continue to provide you with an excellent pint for many years to come.
2015 was a very special year for us as we have owned the pub for 10 years and the pub was 150 years old. To celebrate this, Time and Tide brewed a special ale for us called 'Barnes on fire!' You can sample a pint of this delicious key keg ale exclusively at THE BERRY.
The Berry is a family owned and run pub, I am the landlord, my name is Chris. I am a huge real ale enthusiast so if the beer isn't up to my standard, I wont sell it! My gorgeous landlady is my wife Harriet. She is responsible for the arty bits around the pub. (She is a very modest but talented artist. Some of her art work of Deal is for sale) Malcolm and Bev are my ever supportive mum and dad and they serve behind the bar as well as do many other jobs around the place. Our other fabulous team members are Martin, Taylor, Alice, Dave, Hannah, Peter and Debbie.
Simon from 'Tayberry Foods,' provides us with the delicious hand raised pork pies and scotch eggs that we sell. He also does a 'pop up' food night once a month.
We are a real community pub. This year I (Chris the landlord) am doing the London half marathon - as I've got the bug now after completeing the London Marathon and the Brighton last year. We collect the Sainsbury's Active Kids vouchers for children's school. Bev's last Tombola (affectionately known as the Jumbola) raised £152. (Thank you to all our customers that donated prizes for this) I did the 'Boxing Day Dip' again this year. The money raised each month from our quizzes goes to the youngsters at Deal Community Football Club (Over £550. raised last year)
We assist with local beer festivals at The RNLA local Lifeboat, The Sailing Club and The Rugby Club.
We love our real pub and hope you will too, so please pop in for a real friendly welcome, a warm glowing real fire and some great real ales and ciders - we'd love to meet you!
